Does losing weight help a hiatal hernia?

I am a 49 year old male. I want to know if losing weight helps a hiatal hernia?

Yes.
Patients with obesity are more prone to getting a hiatal hernia, likely due to the extra pressure generated by the weight of the abdominal fat. Symptoms of reflux typically improve with weight loss. Unfortunately, once a hernia is present, it does not go away, even with weight loss. The symptoms may improve, but the hernia itself will still be there.
Yes, but you may still require Surgery to repair the defect in abdominal wall, which is internal.
