Does pancreatitis cause stomach gurgling?

I am a 30 year old male. I want to know if pancreatitis causes stomach gurgling?

1 Answer

Short answer is no. Acute pancreatitis would not cause gurgling which generally means there are loud bowel sounds, which we call boborygmi. Borborygmi are not necessarily indicative of pathology, though it is conceivable that chronic pancreatitis may make it hard to digest fatty foods so this might cause more gurgling. Other potential causes of loud boborygmi might include IBS, SIBO, carbohydrate malabsorption, small bowel strictures.
