Elective Surgery- Anesthesia and Adderall?

I am having elective surgery next month. I am on Adderall and have been for 5+ years. The surgeon said I had to stop taking Adderall 30 days prior to surgery, Is this necessary, or are they being very cautious because its elective? What is the best advice on when to stop taking Adderall?

Speak to the Anesthesiologist. This is not true. Consult with your Paychiatrist.
Adderall is a stimulant and stays in your system for quite a while, especially if it is the XR formulation. The reason they want you to quit is to make sure your body is completely rid of it so that it doesn't work against the anesthesia and give you the risk of waking up during surgery.
You can safely stop Adderall prior to your surgery perhaps 30 days out of the year elective surgery
