Excema from rheumatoid arthritis

My mother has rheumatoid arthritis and she has developed excellent on her hands. It is really bad. When she has a flare up, sometimes she has to itch it and her hands crack and bleed. They are scaly, bumpy, flaky, cracked, sometimes ooze. It is mostly one big patch on each hand targeting the knuckle area and nail beds. It looks like one of her finger nails may fall off. She is in so much pain. It is hard for her to perform daily tasks. She regularly takes ibuprofen or Tylenol. She puts Vaseline on her hands and sometimes has to wear gloves. How can I help her? Is there anything more we can do to ease the pain in her hands?
