Audiologist Questions Audiologist

Hearing issues?

I have a constant hum in my left ear, the audiometry report states absent reflexes in the right ear. She said she was very concerned with the results and wishes for me to seek a specialist who would certainly recommend a brain scan as she felt it was not my ear/hearing but an issue with the cranium. Is she thinking tumor or vascular I wonder?

You need to see ENT specialist with all the test results who can best advise you what to do next
The acoustic reflex is present when the stapedius muscle contracts. Innervated by the 7th cranial nerve. Used to monitor Bell's palsy. Do you have any unilateral facial weakness or facial spasms? Any hypersensitivity to sound? Pulsatile tinnitus? Any hearing loss in the lower frequencies? I have no opinion on what she is thinking, not enough information. Most likely there's no pathology. Might get opinion of ENT in your area.
