Heart palpitations?

My 74 year old mother experiences heart palpitations that last for just a few seconds. When this occurs she can't see for a second. She is on the same blood pressure medication now for a few years but it started happening last year. This occurs every month or 2. The doctor says they've never heard of this and don't know. Do you have any advice, should she be tested? Caffeine, lack of sleep, heart problems to come, etc.

Yes she should be tested. At least an ekg, possible holter, an echocardiogram. It could be due to medications. Her medications should be evaluated. Cutting down on caffeine is a good idea. Since she has episodes of not seeing, she may need carotid Doppler.
