Hiatal hernia repair?

Is it procedural to have a barium swallow test done being that I have polio after a laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair? To make sure there are no blockages? Or to have pj drains in after hernia repair to drain old blood from the stomach?

Yes, a swallow has to be done.
Many surgeons will routinely order similar tests after surgery to evaluate the repair. It will frequently be dependent on the complexity of the repair and any underlying medical or previous surgical problems. Drains are occasionally necessary as well. Needing a study and requiring a drain should not be cause for concern.
These questions should be addressed by a surgeon.
