How can I prevent back pain after spinal anesthesia?

I will have surgery under spinal anesthesia. How can I prevent back pain after spinal anesthesia?

Typically there is little to no back pain from a spinal, but typical approaches to pain are appropriate…ice, heat, Tylenol, Advil.

Please, meet with the anesthesiologist prior to the procedure, ask him to use a thinner needle and give plenty of local anesthetic while doing the procedure!
