To be honest the best way is to see your dentist on a regular basis so they can determine the cause and the best treatment. You may need to be referred to a periodontist if it is bad.
Receding gums are a common problem in the US. You must see your dentist every 6 months and get a professional cleaning. You must check your overall health with your physician to make sure you have good bone health and good tissue health. Eat a balanced diet which includes fruits and vegetables as well as protein in meat, fish, fowl, and other sources. You must be sure to include vitamin C from natural sources high in this vitamin. Get some sun and/or take Vit. D supplements. Exercise mildly up to your own physical level. Get the right amount of sleep. Don't worry and stress on things you cannot control Be happy and find things to do that are beneficial to yourself and others. If bone loss occurs, seek professional advice on getting bone grafts if necessary, and rely on your dentist to monitor your dental health and suggest other treatments. Also, use a soft toothbrush and do not use whitening (abrasive type) toothpaste. Check out your brushing habits and method with your dental hygienist and dentist. Get an electric toothbrush with a soft bristle. DENTIST
