“How do chiropractors and massage therapists work together?”
I am a 29 year old male. I want to know how do chiropractors and massage therapists work together?

Most chiropractors are board certified in physiotherapy (muscle work). However, few chiropractors have the time to perform these stretches and activities. Chiropractors work very well with physical therapists, massage therapists and other licensed professionals in order to provide a more complete treatment approach.
Chiropractors work with the vertebrae that may be misaligned (subluxations), while massage therapists are addressing the muscles that attach to them. It needs to be determined whether or not the issue is structural or muscular.
Massage complements chiropractic extremely well. The patient gets a massage of a problem area and when they are relaxed, the adjustment should be easier to provide and the more movement we can get. I am one of the few who address the specific disk problem and it is easier to perform after patients receive a massage.
Chiropractic and Massage Therapy are great synergistic professions because they complement each other so well. Chiropractic involves removing nerve interference, which is most often caused by vertebral bones of the spine being misaligned and creating nerve interference which inhibits function of muscles, organs, and cells of the body. Chiropractors realign these bones and allow the body to function properly. Massage therapists deal with soft tissue issues including muscles, ligaments, and tendons as well as vascular issues as massage therapy is very good for blood circulation. When chiropractic care and massage therapy are used in conjunction with each other, they are very good resources for complete wellness.
That's a hard question to answer because there are so many different styles of chiropractic and massage. Primarily massage therapists just work on muscles, whereas chiropractors work on aligning the balance of the whole body including your bones. Both are good, it depends on your health and your needs. I guess you'll need to try both for yourself. Some chiropractic clinics have massage therapists providing their service in the same place. Good luck. Sorry I could not be more specific.

Hi there thank you very much for this question!
While Chiropractors make sure the joints of the spine have the degrees of freedom they are supposed to, the Massage Therapist helps to 'reset the muscle memory' of the body by relieving tension. The lack of overall tension allows the body to move naturally.
I hope that helps.
Sincerely,
Dr. Morales, D.C.

Yes, many times chiropractors can work along with massage therapists to get the desired outcome for the patient. Chiropractors are also trained in massage and can perform massage as part of the chiropractic treatment in necessary to aid in delivering a more effective treatment. Keeping in mind that certain states have the ability to govern what chiropractors have the ability to perform within that state.
GOOD MORNING,
NOT UNUSUAL FOR A CHIROPRACTOR TO HAVE A MASSAGE THERAPIST IN THEIR CLIIC. MASSAGE USUALLY ADDRESSES SOFT TISSUE NEEDS SUCH AS MUSCULAR, LIGAMENTOUS, WHERE CHIROPRACTIC IS FOCUSED ON GENTLE SPECIFIC VERTEBRAL ADJUSTMENT TO CORRECT MISALIGNMENT AND RESTORE THE NERVOUS SYSTEM TO BETTER FUNCTION.
HOPE THIS HELPED.

That is a very good question!
Many chiropractors and massage therapists work concurrently to treat patients due to the combination of muscle and skeletal structures oftentimes both being involved. Depending on the chiropractor and massage therapist, it depends on what type of treatments are necessitated and used. So, in short....chiropractors and massage therapists oftentimes work together to resolve issues with patients.

Chiropractic and massage are a perfect combination. Chiropractic focuses on the spine (bones) to remove pressure from the nerves so that there is balance and clear communication between the brain and the body. When there is misalignment in the spine, tension is placed on the muscles connected to the spine which can cause further misalignment of the bones, pressure on the nerves, and pain. While chiropractic focuses on correcting misalignment of the bones for the purpose of keeping a clear communication pathway for the nervous system, massage focuses on releasing muscle tension so that the spine doesn't continue to become misaligned by muscles pulling the bones out of place.
Massage therapists primarily work on muscles and soft tissues. Chiropractors primarily work with joints. Muscles move joints. If there is an imbalance in muscle, it will effect joint motion. If there is improper joint function, the muscles have to compensate. Massage therapy and chiropractic work best when done together, rather than either one alone.
