If the patient lives close to the hospital (within 20 miles), they can go home the day of the stent procedure if done through the wrist artery (radial) and completed before noon. If the procedure is done late in the day or if there are any complications (chest pain, threatened closure, arrhythmias, bleeding, etc.), the patient can usually be discharged the next day.
