“How likely is it to throw up from anesthesia? ”
I'm getting surgery in a few weeks for the first time and I am worried about the general anesthesia making me throw up afterwards. Is it likely to happen? Is there anything that I can take to reduce the chance?

That one is hard to predict or control. Just lay still for hours after Surgery, no sudden movements.
It is common after surgery, but nowadays, with better, new drugs, it's not as often. Ask the anesthesiologist to give you some. I do not like or trust over-the-counter. It may interact with the anesthesia. If you take something, you must tell the anesthesiologist. My personal experience is I do not fill my patient's stomach with air so I have few patients get nauseous. Best advice is to eat a light meal the night before; be full, but not heavy food.
