Permanent restoration (a new crown or a crown seal if existing crown is in good condition) should be done within a few weeks of getting a root canal. Crown protects root canal tooth. Tooth becomes brittle and is more likely to fracture if no permanent crown is placed on that tooth.
It depends. Sometimes we will place a permanent filling the same day. In most cases, we will place a temporary filling to make sure things are healing well before closing the tooth permanently. If a crown is needed, your dentist may recommend waiting for a short period of time before placing this.
You can get the permanent filling any time. Sometimes we even place the permanent filling at the time of the root canal.
