The tooth should be restored as soon as possible
You should get your crown within 1-3 weeks after the root canal
You should get a crown as soon as possible. The tooth no longer has blood supply and is very brittle.
Whenever you want, but don't drag it out or procrastinate as without the crown, you can easily fracture the tooth and end up losing it after all that work. I usually recommend going for the crown once it is pain free and not before. Give it one or two weeks to make sure it settles down and is pain free. Good Luck.
You can get a crown anytime after completion of the root canal. Be sure the dentist who completed the procedure gives you the clearance to proceed with the crown. As soon as that happens you should schedule the crown to protect the tooth from fracturing.
