I am a 49 year old female. I want to know how long do you need to be on blood thinners after a heart stent?

Type and duration of anti platelet therapy is determined by calculating the ischemic risk and the bleeding risk of the particular patient.
After stent placement, anti-platelet medication is used. Usually, the medication is continued for one year. Medications such as Brilinta, or Plavix can be used. Aspirin, is also used with these other medications as well. The Aspirin is continued indefinitely. unless there are bleeding problems.
