“How long does it hurt after thyroid surgery?”

The pain is rarely an issue after a thyroid operation. There is some soreness in the throat from having the endotracheal tube in place by the anesthesiologist. There is some tenderness along the suture line. But in my experience surgical pain is not often a problem and when I visit the person the day after the operation; pain is never mentioned.
