There are a lot of factors determining length of time for a bone graft to heal. Some of those factors are general health, bone quality, area of the graft, what the surgeon is trying to accomplish with the graft, smoking, and skill of the surgeon. Best advice is to get a feel for what your surgeon estimates the time needed for healing. Average time is 6 months to one year.
Usually 3-4 months is a sufficient period of time, a little longer if you have diabetes or you are a smoker.
Typical bone grafts can take from 3 to 6 months to heal. Some grafts take longer depending on the site.

Hi,
Bone grafting heals at different rates depending on the bone material used. If bovine or porcine bone is used, it will take 6-9 months. If human donor bone was used, it will range from 3-6 months. If the bone used was your own, it may take between 3-4 months. Now, be aware these are just ranges and your dentist will be able to discuss this further.
