How long does it take for antidepressants to work?

I have depression and want to take antidepressants. How long does it take for antidepressants to work?

Realistically, it takes about 4-6 weeks before really noticing the effects. Some antidepressants depending on potency can have earlier results.

It may take from 2 to 4 weeks to get an antidepressant response providing you are already in the right dose of antidepressant
Antidepressanys may take 4-6 weeks to see the full effect. Side effect may be noticed from the start of therapy and some improvements may notice in 1-2 weeks.
