The full effect of blood thinners can be achieved between 2 to 3 hours. Now, Warfarin takes around three days (3) to have their full effect. You may need regular blood tests to check how well the blood is clotting. To dissolve a clot, the blood thinners can take weeks to months to dissolve, depending on the clot size. Thank you.
The answer depends on the type of blood thinner you are on. Most work immediately, but there are some agents that require bridging to get to therapeutic levels such as Warfarin.
