Most times with warm salt water rinses for just a few days.
Dear,

You have to schedule appointment with your dentist to get it checked. They will take some X-rays and evaluate the health of your gum and based on that, they will treat it. Mostly you will need a good cleaning. After that, the swelling will go down and the inflammation will go away.
When gums hurt, it's usually due to either chronic or acute infection. It is extremely important to visit your dentist to resolve the issue, otherwise both conditions may result in complete or partial tooth loss. Chronic gum infections can temporarily improve by brushing and flossing twice a day for at least two weeks. Acute infections can temporarily resolve by antibiotics after a couple of days.
Inflamed gums are the sign of the gingivitis and/or periodontitis. You will need a professional diagnosis and treatment. With a proper treatment tailored to your individual needs and good oral hygiene your gums should feel better within days.

It really depends upon the cause- genetic, systemic (autoimmune disease, dry mouth, diabetes) or local (tarter, stain, hard to reach spots) your Hygienist and Dr. will find a solution!
