After a rhinoplasty, the nose is generally swollen for the first 1-2 weeks. However, after that first week, the nose will appear normal and no one should be able to notice that you had a nose job. However, the swelling of the nose will continue to gradually go down and the final appearance is usually noticeable after 1 year.
Healing from rhinoplasty is a slow prolonged journey, taking a minimum of a year. Actually it is common for subtle improvements to be occurring for perhaps 2 years.
After rhinoplasty, it can take upwards of one year before you have your final result. Usually people hit a reasonable steady state at three months, however, the nose remain swollen for up to one year. Hang in there and everything should be great.

It can take up to THREE YEARS before swelling completely resolves.

I tell my patients 90% of swelling will be gone in 90 days, but it can take at least a year for all swelling to resolve.
Congratulations. 3 weeks after rhinoplasty you can expect o have a significant amount of swelling and some minor discomfort. If you underwent an open rhinoplasty having a numb nose at this time is also very common. Depending on the type of techniques used, your swelling can last anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months and in some cases up to a year. It is important to ask your doctor about the technique they plan to use, and what to expect in terms of recovery after rhinoplasty.
