“How long does it take for tartar to damage teeth?”
I am a 33 year old male. I want to know how long does it take for tartar to damage teeth?

The mineral deposits of tartar do not actually damage the enamel or dentin. However, the bacteria love to live on the rough, porous surface. This causes gum tissue to bleed and pull away, ultimately damaging the bone around the teeth. Most people have this removed about every 6 months routinely, but some people need to do it as often as every 3 months. If your gums bleed, even a little, you may have gum disease and should see your dentist immediately before the damage is permanent.
