“How long does it take for the redness to go away after LASIK?”
I had LASIK 5 days ago. I still have eye redness. How long does it take for the redness to go away after LASIK?

The suction used to hold the eye still during LASIK laser can leave red marks. These go away just like a bruise for most people in 1-2 weeks.
Redness can come from subconjunctival hemorrhages that happen very frequently after surgery due to the suction device used to keep the eye in place where the laser is used or it can come from dryness that is also very common after surgery. Depending on what the reason is for the redness if it is a subconjunctival hemorrhage it may take up to 2-3 weeks for it to completely go away. If its from dryness, it can last that way for months and needs to be treated. The important thing is to follow up with your surgeon and after care team post LASIK so they can determine what is the cause of your redness and if you need additional care they would be the best to let you know what you need to do.
Redness can result from breakage of small blood vessels during surgery. This will usually resolve within 1-2 weeks. It has no effect on final visual outcome.
