How long does it take to get the results of a skin biopsy?

I will have a skin biopsy. How long does it take to get the results of a skin biopsy?

The skin biopsy time is approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Now a wedge biopsy, which requires a wider excision, may take 15 to 45 minutes after the aseptic preparation of the skin. Local anesthetic will be used. Thank you.
Give it a week. If longer, contact your physician for an update.

It depends upon the dermatopathology lab and the testing that is required on the specimen but can vary widely. Biopsy results can be ready in as little as 24 hours or take as long as a couple of months.
