Varies widely based on the approach. Laparoscopic approach results in shorter stay or even outpatient versus open approach requiring longer stay and longer recovery. Recovery for laparoscopic approach is usually a week with light duty return for a first time primary hernia.
Apologies for the late reply. I’m a pediatric surgeon and I usually recommend two weeks of no major activities such as contact or organized sports. I also have my patients avoid swimming for two weeks and continuation.
Hope your recovery is going well.

Hello,
I cannot say for sure for you because I do not know about your hernia or the technique being used to repair it. Your surgeon can give you a better idea about this. I tell my patients that about a month and the longer you can put off strenuous activity the better to let it heal in completely. The end point to this is 6 months to as strong as it will get.

Generally about 6-8 weeks, but depends on the type of hernia, repair technique(s) used, and repair materials utilized.

About 4-6 weeks. It also depends on other factors. Was it a big surgery? Are you overweight? Do you have factors or take medications that delay healing. All these things may make it take longer to heal.
If all goes well, you should be fully recovered in 6 to 8 weeks, but it all depends on how extensive your surgery is.
