Full rupture without a gap is 3 months with a gap you will need surgery
Depends on severity of injury and path taken. At this age surgery is probably in your best interest because this will significantly affect you the rest of your life if not properly addressed early. Adult some patients do quite well with lots of physical therapy and no surgery. Physical therapy is a must and realistically takes at least six months potentially closer to a year to feel stronger again. This is a very tough injury to return from
Achilles ruptures require attention, sometimes they need surgery. Achilles ruptures are VERY rare in 17 year olds.
Achilles tendon rupture will likely need surgical repair. It can take up to 12-18 months for complete recovery, especially in athletes getting back to pre injury form but daily activities will be less. I recommend you discuss with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for detailes
Months.
To fully recover back to normal activity it will be 9-12 months. Thats just how long it takes for people to get back to their normal activities. It takes at least 5-6 months before jumping and high impact activities can be started again. If you have a ruptured achilles tendon I highly recommend surgery to fix this.
Depends on the severity of the tear (full vs. partial), treatment options (surgery vs. physical therapy only vs. PT + injections). Also depends on your goals (normal life or do you want to play basketball regularly). At least 6-15 months.
If a true rupture, without surgical repair it will not heal. With surgical repair, the recovery depends on the quality of the tissue, quality of the repair and to some extent the skill of the surgeon. Good luck
It can take over a year to recover from an Achilles injury, and unfortunately, the strength of the affected side will be somewhat weaker.
It is much easier to give a timeline of recovery for such a pathology if the Achilles rupture is surgically fixed than if you are simply immobilized. But I would say 3-4 months, depending on the treatment and depending on your behavior (your compliance with non-weight bearing and rest). They may heal a little bit sooner if you have the tendon surgically repaired.
