How long does it take to recover from trigger finger surgery?

Recovery can take several months and depends on several factors.
The surgical wound will heal in about one week. You must keep your dressing intact especially if you use this hand in toiletry. It should not be wet or soiled because an infection can ensue. You may need occupational therapy once the wound is healed to maintain your motion and to avoid the triggering. Also to regain your strength and dexterity.

With my surgery 1 day.
Very short, essentially healing of the skin only. You may have some soreness for a couple weeks.
Usually a few days. Just need to protect the incision for two weeks till the stitches come out
Typically, I allow people to use the hand right away for anything less than 1 pound. The strenuous gripping and grabbing for three weeks. There will still be some aches and pains even for a few months.

The recovery is usually pretty quick after a trigger finger release, but this can vary patient to patient. You can use the hand right away after surgery to perform activities of daily living. You can drive and do light typing, etc... the next day. However, it can sometimes take upwards of 6 weeks to fully return to all activities, such as tennis or golf for example. Good luck!
