Long enough to have post operative pain tolerable. No different than anesthetized tooth
Local anesthetics used during vasectomy may offer pain relief for a maximum of a few hours after surgery.
Usually it lasts for a few hours, and it should not be painful that much after the operation.
It depends on the local anesthetic used. The short-acting local anesthetic like Lidocaine lasts about 60-90 mins. The longer-acting anesthetics like Bupivacaine last about 3-4 hours. Individual differences can also determine how long the local anesthetic might last. An individual whose body metabolizes local anesthetic faster will have shorter duration as compared to a slow metabolizer.
Just an hour or so.
