It depends on whether a patient has to do detox and then a residential program. The detox is focused on ensuring safety and as much comfort as able while withdrawing from the alcohol. The residential part of treatment usually lasts anywhere from 28 days to months and is focused more therapeutically to help patients understand the factors involved in their addiction including potential self medicating and other stressors.
As you may know alcoholism is a life-long condition, and so the treatment will likely need to be life-long by attending AA meetings and maintaining sobriety. Typically alcohol detox where you go to a facility and they medically supervise and treat alcohol withdrawal is about 30 days. Of course, all this depends on how much you drink, for how long, and also on how motivated you are to quit.
Alcohol use disorder treatment is different for everyone. There are inpatient and outpatient options. Some inpatient options are 30 days, some are longer. Chat with your doctor about what options are best for you.
