The duration of a back adjustment can vary depending on several factors, including the technique used and the specific needs of the patient. Generally, a typical chiropractic adjustment session lasts between 15 to 30 minutes.
During this time, the chiropractor will typically conduct an initial assessment, which may include reviewing your medical history and performing a physical examination. The actual adjustment itself may take just a few minutes, but the entire visit often includes other aspects like consultation, follow-up care discussions, and possibly other therapies.
If you have any specific concerns or conditions, it's always a good idea to discuss them with your chiropractor during your appointment.

A back adjustment takes only a few minutes to perform, however, we must figure out what specific areas to adjust based on your clinical objective findings so I do need to perform at least a brief consultation and exam prior to the adjustment.
Once the chiropractor determines the type of adjustment needed it usually takes 1-2 minutes. Jeffery P. Jones, D.C. Good question. The adjustment itself can be completed in a matter of 5-10 minutes. Prior to the adjustment taking place, your physician or their staff should take a thorough health history, proper examination, and oftentimes imaging to rule out osseous pathology and to better determine what needs to be adjusted. This process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. In Health, J. Korey Harris, D.C.
Depending on the practitioner, back adjustments are quick and can last as little as a few minutes to a little longer.
Chiropractic adjustments take just a few minutes to perform. However, before adjusting your spine, your chiropractor will take a thorough history of your injury and examine you to determine what needs to be adjusted and the best technique to use for your adjustment. An initial visit can take as long as an hour when a consultation, exam, and x-rays (if necessary) are done.
After the first visit, you can expect adjustments to be brief. Keep in mind that your chiropractor may also use additional therapies like electric muscle stimulation, acupuncture, or trigger point work to help address your problem and this can take some extra time.
