It depends on each person. But most patients only feel some discomfort for a few hours, sometimes for a couple of days, that can be managed with over the counter pain relief medication. The provider dentist may prescribe some stronger medication, if he/she thinks it would be necessary for the patient. Talk to your dentist to see what would be the best for you. And always remember to follow all the post surgery instructions given by your dentist!
It is common for patients to experience some pain after the dental implant procedure. Initially, the discomfort may last one to two days. However, some patients may continue to experience pain at the implant site for up to 10 days.
A dental implant surgery will result in some discomfort, but the amount and duration depends on a few factors. These factors are the surgeon, the surgery design, and any complications that arise. If this is a simple implant placement which does not require an incision and reflection of your gums, then post op pain should be minimal and last a few days. Otherwise, you can expect some discomfort for 7-10 days. The use of meds like Ibuprofen and Tylenol do well to make any post op pain very minimal and tolerable.
