Therapy can last anywhere from 4-6 weeks although in some cases very little therapy is needed after a hip replacement.
4-6 weeks Depending on your needs
Post hip surgery therapy can last up to 6 months Sent from my Metro by T-Mobile 5G Device Get Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/AAb9ysg>
You will more than likely have 2-3 weeks of Homecare Physical Therapy and then possibly 4-6 weeks more of Outpatient Therapy depending on your strength and ability to walk without a walker and the discretion of your orthopedist/ surgeon.
Typically, patients will have home therapy for first 1-2 weeks until their first follow up with the surgeon. After that, most patients will transition to outpatient physical therapy for the next 3-4 weeks depending on progress. The main exercise after a hip replacement is walking. Overall recovery, can take 6-9 months but most of that is working on your own doing exercises at home. Karwin McCain, MD Board Certified PM&R and Brain Injury Medicine
Depends on the size of the incision and your pain tolerance. Most times you can be on your own for about 4 weeks.
Multiple factors determine how long one may need PT after a hip replacement. On average we see patients walk out of our clinic without an assistive device in 4-6 weeks of rehab. Thank you.
