I need to have a vitrectomy. How long is recovery from vitrectomy surgery?

It depends on why the vitrectomy is being done and what type of agent is being used to fill the vitreous cavity at the time of surgery. If the vitreous space is being filled with fluid people can usually be back to regular activities in about a week. If air or gas is being used at the time of surgery to fill the vitreous cavity it could be 2-6 weeks. If silicone oil is being used people can usually be back to regular activities in 1-2 weeks
