Its done at same time as colonoscopy.

The gastroenterologist has to sedate you so the procedure per se does not take long but you have to set aside at least one day for this because you will be groggy after the procedure
The answer to the question depends on the size and location of the polyp. Most polyps are removed during a colonoscopy which is an endoscopic examination of the large bowel and the distal part of the small bowel with a fiber optic camera on a flexible tube that is introduced through the anus. This procedure is usually no longer than 30 minutes unless there is several polyps that need to be removed or there is difficulty getting through the colon. However, if the polyp is too large to be removed endoscopically or biopsies reveal a cancer, then surgical intervention may be warranted.
