“How long should you wear eye shield after cataract surgery?”
I will have cataract surgery next week. I wonder how long should you wear an eye shield after cataract surgery?

Great question! Your eyecare provider should give you a detailed list of "*DO's and DON'T's*" preoperatively but generally speaking your eye shield is worn for the first 6-7 days postoperatively to protect you after surgery while you are sleeping to ensure if you roll over in your sleep you don't roll
Eye shields are usually recommended at bedtime or when napping for the first week after cataract surgery . If you get an implant during cataract surgery that corrects astigmatism you cant rub your eyes for 2 weeks .Some patients will where them for 2 weeks at night. Each eye surgeon has there own rules of shield use. Ask the surgeon who is performing the surgery for his recommendations. Sent from the all new AOL app for iOS
