Gums should not hurt after flossing.
Gums should not hurt if you are flossing regularly and correctly. See your dentist for a good evaluation to evaluate the cause of pain. Dr Kristi
I’m guessing that you have gum pain because you don’t floss every tooth everyday or you are using the wrong technique. If your gums bleed and they hurt, it is because they are not healthy. Continue to floss on a regular basis after brushing and the gums should gradually become less sensitive and they will stop bleeding.
It depends on the health of the gums. Use warm salt water rinses, 1 tsp of salt in 8 ounces of warm water, swish, and spit. If you are new to flossing or not brushing regularly it will take you longer to heal. Keep flossing 1 time a day and brushing 2-3 times a day, it pays off!!  See your dental office twice a year too, it is maintenance to protect what you have!
You should make an appointment with a periodontist to have your gums examined, in order to figure out why your gums hurt.
