It really depends on the severity of the issue and your individual health goals. Symptoms treatment meaning just feeling better without much structural correction can usually be attained within 6-12 treatments usually performed at 2-3x/week. Corrective care usually takes more treatment over a longer period of time because the treatment goals are related to spinal and postural alignment. That requires restoring proper joint alignment and motion, eliminating nervous system interference, improving proprioception and balancing muscular tensions. These changes can usually be made in a 3-6 month period depending on severity of faults. I hope you find this info helpful. Take care and be well. Dr. Eric Miller - Orland Park, IL
It all depends on the cause of your pain. Is it due to a sprain/strain? Is it a disc problem? Is it facet syndrome? Is there nerve damage? There are many factors. Once the cause is diagnosed, a treatment plan can be established which varies depending on the cause. Hope this helps. Jay H Schwartz, DC, DIBCN, DIBE
The number of times you should see a chiropractor depends on your specific issue. If you have chronic back pain, it may be beneficial to see a chiropractor on a maintenance basis to ease your discomfort and keep you from having more acute episodes of pain. If it is an acute issue from some type of injury, it would depend on the severity of the injury. The best way to know how often you should see a chiropractor is to be evaluated and then that doctor can give you a better idea. *Gena Wickes, DC, cAVCA*
It is important to see your chiropractor on a regular basis, providing you were getting relief. It is especially important if the chiropractor provides more manual muscular skeletal treatment and your back remains stable without recurrent or advancing symptomatology. If your symptoms continue to get worse or you are not having Improvement despite chiropractic care, you may need to see a spine specialist to evaluate the progression Symptoms or lack of response to your treatment Michael A. Depends on your goal. If you want to just get out of pain, should be about 8-10 visits, more or less depending on severity. However if you want to transition into prevention (where you want to avoid future instances of back pain or increase strength and stability outside of pain), then there might be more consistency, like 2 times a month for several months, and occasional check ups.
