You would rather chew on a wire brush than to have braces!
You would rather sandpaper a Bobcats behind than get braces!!
You see, I’m not a Doctor or a Dentist!
I’ve never had braces!
I’m a retired Fire Captain / Paramedic / technical rescue specialist/ Public Safety Rescue Diver who studied Hyperbaric Medicine and worked at several area hospitals providing Hyperbaric treatments for patients most were wound care others were compromised flaps and graphs. Burn injuries, divers suffering from the bends……
And since I have the same name as a Dentist who works at one of the hospitals I once worked for Someone has confused me with him and I have been getting email questions for years and have replied many times to everyone I could think of to fix this issue, But I continue to get them .
P.S. braces are not painful, they make your teeth sore after adjustments but that goes away quickly. 4 of my children had them.
Every case is different. Some patients have discomfort for a few days because they need to move their teeth to a new position and the initial pressure will cause some pain that can be handled with Tylenol or Aleve. Many times, you must use a bit of pressure to achieve separation and that can cause discomfort. For the most part, orthodontic tooth movement is tolerable.
Braces facilitate moving teeth thru bone to put them into alignment. Yes, this does involve some pain and discomfort. It usually is not severe and each time they tighten adjust or change your clear correct tray, the pain is usually only the first day or two. This should not discourage you from doing this. The great majority of patients can handle this. Those that cannot have crooked teeth.
