In the scope of plastic surgery, neck lift surgery is well tolerated by patients and is less painful than tummy tucks, breast lifts, butt lifts, arm lifts, or breast implants. It is less painful than childbirth or bunionectomy. But it is more painful than hangnail removal or a pulled tooth. Talk to your local plastic surgeon.
Patients are all different in regards to pain tolerance. Most of my patient take pain medication for 24 to 72 hours. Some require longer and some just take Tylenol from the start.
Generally not painful at all. However, everyone’s perception of pain is different and we each have different pain tolerances. There is swelling that can be uncomfortably. Generally speaking, if there is a great deal of discomfort, it might indicate bleeding, infection, or a problem with the skin flaps.
