“I am planning to go for a lip piercing. Will anaesthesia help in easing the pain?”
I am planning to pierce my lip but I am obviously scared of the pain. Will anesthesia cream work even on numbing the lips region? Will it help if I get it from a local doctor?

I am not sure which anesthesia cream you are referring to. EMLA cream is prescription only and helps when applied 30 minutes prior to starting an IV on children
Hi,
Topical anesthesia solutions like Emla cream can help. I do not know if you need a prescription where you are.

Most likely cream (emla) will not help much and then only on the outside of the lip (and you have to keep the cream in place for about 60min prior to the piercing). If you are serious about the piercing and the fear of pain you might ask a dentist to numb you, depending on the location of the piercing.

The epidermis covering the surface of your lips is unique and cannot be reproduced by any plastic surgical technique. Piercing this tissue creates a scar that can never be erased. If you are African American, you may develop keloids at the piercing sites, negating any enhancement of your beauty by a ring. Although EMLA cream applied 2 hours before the procedure may blunt the pain of the procedure during the procedure, it is a short-acting anesthetic and you may be uncomfortable late, and displeased

You can get local anesthetic cream, but it has to be applied correctly. It will help, but it is quite possible it wouldn't penetrate deep into the lip. Never put anything on the inner part of the lip where it can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream.
I am not sure what if anything people performing lip piercing use for pain. More often than not they would likely use ice or a topical cooling agent and then do the piercing. Topical anesthetic creams over the counter or by prescription would simple help numb the outside surface of the lip not the deeper structures. I would check with the person performing the procedure or others who have had it as to the pain they perceived during the event.
