The overwhelming majority of groin pain is muscular in nature and usually resolves with time/ice/heat/NSAIDS or Tylenol. Other possibilities, however, include a small hernia or, much less commonly, it is related to entrapment or irritation of the ilioinguinal nerve. The first step is to visit with your physician for a full examination.
Groin pain could be caused by multiple reasons. A groin strain is common from exercise. Inguinal hernia, inflamation of lymph nodes, testicular mass, a cyst, and referred pain from the spine are part of the differential diagnosis.
