Periodontist Questions Throat Disorders

I often have a throat infection. What is the reason?

I have had a recurring throat infection almost six times in the last two months. What could be the cause of this?

I am sorry you are having this problem, but I would have to refer you to your medical doctor for the answer as it isn’t usually a dental-related issue.
Best of luck.

Recurring throat infections should be taken seriously with a consultation from your family physician. However, throat infections may also be related bacteria from periodontal disease. Early signs of periodontal disease include halitosis (bad breath), gingivitis (bleeding gums), and loose teeth. There is rarely any discomfort with periodontal disease so it is important for a dentist or periodontist to evaluate for bone loss and potential sites for bacterial infection.

You should see an ENT specialist.
You may have either a recurring bacterial infection and your body never fully recovers before it is completely gone or you have a virus.
Have you taken any antibiotics yet?
