Ibuprofen, potassium and hiatal hernia?

I took ibuprofen and potassium for another condition for three or four days. I have a hiatal hernia and these drugs irritated the hernia to an excessive level. I stopped the drugs two days ago and the pain has subsided from a ten to three or four but how long before the effects of the drugs totally wear off? Thanks.

Ibuprofen and potassium effects go away quickly within 24 hrs. Patient is already on pantoprazole. I suggest he follow reflux precautions such as avoiding tight clothes around belly, not lying down at least 30 minutes after food intake. Avoid alcohol, tobacco, wine, and cheese. If he continues to experience symptoms of stomachache after 2 to 4 weeks with above measures, I suggest he get an EGD endoscopic evaluation with gastroenterologist to rule out peptic ulcers disease.
A lot to unravel here. Most hiatal hernias do not cause symptoms in and of themselves, so I question if your pain is really from the hernia. It could be esophagitis, especially since potassium is known to cause pill esophagitis if it got hung up in the distal esophagus after it was ingested. Can't be sure of what the pain was from but if it's pill esophagitis, it should resolve within a week.
