“Infected piercing?”
I had what I believe was a staph infection on one of my piercings. I got antibiotics and it went away but i think it’s starting to come back. Is it safe for me to take out the piercing??

If you suspect that the staph infection is returning, it's important to address it promptly to avoid further complications. While removing the piercing might seem like a good idea, it can sometimes trap bacteria and make the infection worse if it's not treated properly.
We recommend scheduling a consultation with Dr. Shafa at IrvineSkin in Irvine, Orange County, for an evaluation. Dr. Shafa can assess the situation and provide appropriate treatment, including guidance on whether it's safe to remove the piercing or if other measures are needed.

These indentations are called Beau’s lines and are a direct result of your pneumonia and will grow out and disappear naturally.
Yes. It is safe to remove the earring. You could also try to treat “through it” by washing front and back of ear twice daily with equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide followed by topical antibiotic such as mupirocin (avail by prescription) or bacitracin if you have no known allergy. Sometimes nickel allergy can present like Infection so try to stick with earrings that are low allergenic such as: sterling silver, stainless steel. Good luck!
