Hello and thank you for reaching out. At age 14 many women have irregular periods. This is usually so because the endocrine complex that controls your monthly cycles has not yet matured. The organs involved are: the Hypothalamus, the Pituitary, and the Ovaries. However, other conditions may cause irregular menses including: Thyroid, Polycystic Ovaries, Obesity, Certain Medications etc. Therefore, you must consult with your pediatrician about this issue so that you can be properly evaluated and managed. Please talk to your mom and then your pediatrician. It is very common to have irregular periods when you first start menstruating.
