Is CT scan of kidneys safe?

I will have a CT scan of my kidneys. Is a CT scan of the kidneys safe?

Generally, if your doctor is ordering the scan, the benefits outweigh any risks.
If you're getting CT scan without intravenous contrast then it's safe . Contrast given orally is safe on the kidney. If intravenous contrast is to used, then you need to know the serum creatinine and GFR.
