“Is a bone graft for a dental implant painful?”
I will have a bone graft for a dental implant. Is a bone graft for a dental implant painful?

Every patient is different, but most patients at our practice report mild to mod pain after bone grafting. usually grafting is done in conjunction with Extractions. Most of the pain and swelling is related to the extraction (Not the bone graft)
As always these are general guidelines and we do recommend speaking with your doctor regarding your particular situation.
Thanks!

Bone graft is a great way to maintain the health of your bone around the implant fixture. It's usually a painless and quick procedure
There is little to no pain associated with a bone graft because the dentist will sedate the patient throughout the entire process. Even when the graft is healing, there should not be any pain. Once the graft has healed, the patient will be ready for their implants.
Grafting for a dental implant or multiple implants may be performed utilizing a number of different techniques and materials. The complexity of the graft procedure required which includes what type of graft is used as well as the patient's perception of pain vs. discomfort are some things that need to be considered in answering the question.
