“Is an electric toothbrush good for gums?”
I want to use an electric toothbrush. Is an electric toothbrush good for gums?

Definitely. Most studies show an electric toothbrush removes significantly more plaque and prevents more tartar buildup than using a manual toothbrush.
Yes, electric toothbrushes are not only better at cleaning your teeth than manual toothbrushes, they also help your gums by applying less pressure or forces to your teeth and gums that a manual toothbrush would likely apply.
Absolutely! Powered toothbrushes actually stimulate the gums and promote gum health. Follow me on Instagram @dentull.Dmd to see my feel on how to use a powered toothbrush and the powered brush I recommend.
Absolutely! It is, however, very important to not apply strong pressure while brushing as excessive forces can lead to recession/gum tissue loss over time. The oscillating nature of electric toothbrushes will massage and stimulate the gums; this paired with flossing will keep the gum tissues healthy.
When used correctly it can't hurt. Use one that has a slight vibration such as Oralucent. It has a light that helps to destroy oral bacteria.
Every one of your teeth needs to be cleaned 360 degrees around it every day. Rub floss up and down on each in-between surface like using a dish cloth on a dirty plate. Use a brush in a gentle giggling motion on the outside surfaces. An electric toothbrush can be used here if you prefer.
A popular dental saying is: You do not have to floss all your teeth; only floss the ones you want to keep.

I recommend an electric toothbrush in almost all cases, to prevent cavities and prevent gum diseases.
