“Is bariatric surgery painful?”
I am planning to undergo bariatric surgery to get rid of excess weight. Is this surgery painful?

Less so with the Laparoscopic or Robotic Technique. In the old days, a large incision was needed and that was painful for weeks!
I wouldn’t characterize it as painful. There is some discomfort to be expected the first 24 hours and mild nausea. Most people recover within the first 2-3 days .
After doing several thousand bariatric surgeries we see that most patients are comfortable and don't really need pain medication after the first day or two. It's minimally invasive small incisions and some patients can go home right away.
Bariatric surgery today is done with minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopic or robotic and post operative pain is very mild and usually gone in a few days. No need to worry.
Bariatric surgery is a major operation. You will need to stay in the hospital as explained to you by your surgeon. Any postoperative pain will be controllrf with medication. The pain gradually will go away.
No, with good analgesics or pain/medicine for pain, it's kind of normal or minimum. And it's a minimum invasive surgery by a laparoscopic way.
