Any infection in the lungs can be serious. The longer it goes on the worse it could get. There are treatments
It is usually caused by viruses and resolves on its on with over-the-counter symptomatic therapy. However, sometimes it can be complicated by superimposed bacterial infection which may then require antibiotic treatment.
